Akdai

Many Akdai used to live in Markes as the Akdai Ehelemi ruled Markes for many generations. The Writ of Expulsion applied to all non-Lumdai religions, so like the Avodai, the Akdai either were forced out of the country, converted, or only practiced their faith in secret. Today only a few Akdai live in Terida, but there are many Akdai merchants who travel to Terida for trade.

Akdai believe in the Light, as the Avodai do. Founded after Avodai, Akdai believe that their prophet Akil brought a new version of the Light’s word, the New Way. Whereas Avodai believe descendants and converts are the only ones called to practice the Way, the Akdai believe that the New Way applies to all of humankind. Their precepts have some similarities to our own:

  1. The Light is the One and True Way and Akil is his prophet.
  2. Therefore, profess your faith in the light four times each day.
  3. Follow the Way in all your deeds as the Light is the source of all that is good and wise.
  4. Give unto the needy a tenth of your wealth.
  5. Forgo all sustenance from sunrise to sundown during the last month of the year.
