My grandma would tell me tales of the Giants of the Altir Mountains. You must remember, we lived in Fida at the time. I still find it interesting that after the expulsion, I ended up living in the land where many of her stories took place.
A clever Avodai merchant named Zor was traveling to Terida to sell his goods. The main road was flooded, so he was forced to go through the dangerous path through the Altir Mountains. A giant stood at the beginning of the path, blocking passage to all who tried to cross.
Zor challenged the giant, “I bet you cannot lift this mountain above your head. If you can, I will turn around. If you cannot grant just me and my caravan passage.”
The giant was a proud fellow. And truth be told the path ran around the smallest of the Altir Mountains. He grunted and lifted the mountain above his head. Zor ran with the caravan past the giant and under the mountain, therefore taking the shortest route through the mountains. The giant barely noticed the small man as he was struggling to hold up the mountain. Once he managed to look behind him and saw the little man on the other side, he dropped the mountain on his head in shock.

The Lumdai also have a tale of giants in the Altir Mountains. This is the one I heard from Triana. Giants once were a huge threat to mankind. They roamed the earth and often stomped over human homes without a thought. The largest giant of them all was Og at 35 feet. Og took particular joy out of stomping villages, while riding his 50 foot long Unicorn. There was a great hero named Alejandro Navarro. He took a wondrous sword infused with the power of their (supposed) Lord. He snuck into Og’s cave and slaughtered Og and two of his brothers in their sleep. From that day on, the remaining Giants never left their mountain villages out of fear of the great Alejandro. -Rafa Shai
