Hoopoes are birds with gold feather crowns. It is said that the Light gave them these crowns as a gift for delivering the Eternal Flame to Reba Asnat bet Kuna v’ Eli after the destruction of Kenes. These mighty birds also swore an oath to protect the Shamir Worms, which they do faithfully.

Unfortunately, the Lumdai hunt them for their gold crowns, therefore these stalwart birds are quite rare. It is a duty of the Avodai to protect these guardians whenever we can.

Commentary #

We heard through the Terida Rafa House that the noblemen planned on a special hoopoe hunt. We spent days searching for the few we know. We found a nesting pair and hid them in the House of Prayer. We hope the hunters found no more. Considering how hard it was to find our pair, the other hoopoes are probably safe.
